No. 319

No. 319 / Go Fish

Around 2007 I started keeping a Moleskine. I'd never been good at keeping a consistent sketchbook, but while taking classes with Sessions College I discovered Flickr. There was a daily drawing group for the month of May and I started creating. It catapulted my drawing habit to a new level.

During this time I started drawing some funky fish. I'd occasionally send a photo to my mom, who in turn would put them on her screen saver at work. It made me feel good that she enjoyed them that much. Fast forward to 2010 when I went on my first big vacation to Maui. In a gallery I found this little fish bowl and had to get it for her.

Now, that she's gone it has been living in my bathroom. It houses rings and earrings. Every time I look at it I think of her. I know I talk about her a lot—I have been thinking of her a lot. It seems I miss her in new ways now. I hope, wherever she is, she can see how loved she is. <3
