I met Billy while riding the tube in London this June. I was with a tour group, sitting in the back corner of the car when he sat down next to me. We went for several minutes without chatting. My introverted side was gazing off and tuning out. Luckily, he inquired about our trip and we started chatting. I am so glad we did! He is a theater performer (actor) and was working in a production of Matilda in London. My tour group had just gone to see the Lion King, so I had an even greater appreciation for his craft. He was so friendly and memorable I had to make him one of my PYSM portraits. I was a little nervous to ask him if I could take his picture for my series. Let’s face it . . . . it sounds like a pick-up line, but he kindly obliged.
SO, if you are in London go check out Matilda. If not, don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger. You never know what you will learn.
