No. 167

No. 167 / Summer Iris #2
Original Prismacolor — Paper size 9 x 12 in.
Price $99 plus shipping and sales tax

It is the season of the Iris! They were a favorite of the likes of my mom and grandma. I don't recall noticing them as much as I have this year. We seem to have quite a few around our house, which is really nice.

The beautiful Iris are out all over Idaho and Montana. I thought I would try my hand at this kind of flower. Purple, after all, is my favorite color. Here is to wishing you a lovely Sunday!

No. 155

No. 155 / Summer Blooms
Original Acrylic — Image size 4 x 5 in.
On our way to Great Falls we stopped at my In-law's home in Pocatello. They have the most spectacular flower bed packed full with a variety of iris, plants, and columbine. Columbine always makes me think of my grandma. She seemed to always have some around.

No. 138

No. 138 / Bloom 3
Original Acrylic— Board size  12 x 12 in. (no border)

Happy Monday to you!
I have painted this painting twice. To say it was frustrating is an understatement. Acrylic is my achilles heel, but so was watercolor once upon a time.

I was thinking about what I would tell a young person about art. One of the most important tips I would give is to practice. I truly believe anyone can learn to draw—given time and guidance. Therefore, there isn't any reason for me not to keep trying to conquer acrylic, right?

No. 106

No. 106 / British Peonies
Original Watercolor — Image Size 9" x 6" (paper size 12
" x 9")

Flowers. I appreciate them, but I have never much cultivated a green thumb. My mom, my grandmother, my great-grandmother all had a knowledge and love of flowers. Peonies, the Spring, and garden gloves make me think of them. This particularly pretty peony I found on my trip to England. I believe it was on the grounds of William Wordsworth's estate.

No. 103

No. 103 / Lily
Original Watercolor — Image Size 6" x 6" (paper size 9" x 12")

I received these flowers from Kyle last week and just had to capture them. They are so pretty. (Yes, I am a lucky gal.) Today's painting was an exercise is letting go just a bit. I did my best not to overwork this one.

Have a terrific Monday!

No. 102

No. 102 / Bloom
Original PanPastel — Image Size 8.25" x 5.25" (paper size 12" x 9")

Oh, Spring is surely coming,
Her couriers fill the air;
Each morn are new arrivals,
Each night her ways prepare;
I scent her fragrant garments,
Her foot is on the stair.

No. 96

No. 96 / Yellow
Original Watercolor image size 8.25" x 5.25" (paper size 12" x 9")

Happy Monday to you!

It was quite the weekend and I can say I am now feeling the pressure. Ha! Today's painting is another one of flowers. I find them to be rather challenging to paint and had to "quit while I was ahead" today. They seemed appropriate as we migrate into spring.

No. 95

No. 95 / Dare to be Different
Original Watercolor image size 5.25" x 8.25" (paper size 12" x 9")

Firstly, Happy Easter! I hope it is a day filled with love, family, and blessings.

Secondly, I apologize for the late post. I had some finishing touches on this painting (and I slept in a bit). These flowers were some I had received and I was captivated by the lone purple and white petal. I thought it fit nicely with my Magnified theme. And, for me, it represents celebrating unique differences. (Yay, diversity!)

Can I tell you how blessed I am? I am. I hope you feel that way about your own life, too. If you pick up today's Idaho Statesman you will find an article with me in the Explore section.  (Can you say excited?!) I had the opportunity to meet with Katherine Jones a few weeks ago. It was so nice to share my space with her and I found her to be a kindred spirit. Thank you, Katherine! (She follows this list too.) Here is the link to the article if you are so inclined.

And, thank YOU! Thank you for participating in this crazy project of mine and know I appreciate your support! Have a wonderful Sunday.

Sincerely,

Paige

No. 91 / Red
Original Watercolor/Pan Pastel, image size 5.25" x 8.25" (paper size 9" x 12")

I am excited to note that
Kat L. is the winner of the quarterly portrait! I will share her painting when I have it complete. You, my faithful subscribers, will have another chance to win in July.

April is the month of
MAGNIFIED. I will take items and blow them up, so to speak. Paintings will be a bit more abstract, and it will definitely push my limits. I am looking forward to it! Nothing worth doing comes easy, right?

This brings me to today's painting. My mother had a knack for creating beautiful, wispy flowers, but they haven't been my strength. I tried my hand at a beautiful tulip I found in my yard. Don't you just love tulips?
