Today's image is of a flower that can be found everywhere on the island in Kauai. They come in all sorts of beautiful colors and line local yards and roadways . . . the Hibiscus.

Also, remember when I said I would draw one of my email subscribers each quarter? I finally completed Kat's portrait for the first quarter! I only wish I could meet this beautiful lady in person. I used a combination of watercolor and Pan Pastel.

Today's painting is of a Red-Crested Cardinal. You often see this little guys around in Kauai, along with a plethora of other little birds.If you are a bird watcher Hawaii is your place.

No. 126 / Date at the Beach

Everyday is a beautiful day (rain or shine) in Hawaii. At Shipwreck Beach, in Poipu, every day is one that resembles this painting. Surfers, sunbathers, and happy couples can be found littered along the shore. If you visit a swimsuit is required—it's warm.

No. 125 / Coconuts

You can't go to Hawaii and not tap into a coconut, or at least some coconut rum. While on a photo tour we stopped to try some fresh coconut water. A roadside stand, one remaining juice coconut, and one dollar and fifty cents later . . . we were drinking one of nature's best sources of potassium.

Next to the stand was a pile of used coconuts. Rich in colors and shapes I had to capture them for one of my paintings. If you ever go to Hawaii you must try some of their fresh fruit and coconuts. Nothing you can buy at the supermarket can compare.

I have to admit that it will take a few days for me to get back in the "groove." Since I have been playing, and not painting, I have sure felt the difference. I am looking forward to getting my mojo back and to start packing those boxes. (Okay, maybe less excited about packing . . . but excited about the future.)
