No. 70 / DuckieWatercolor, Paper size 5" x 7" (less border .6")
I once was told by a painting professor that most art majors no longer create artwork five years after graduating college (that was ten years ago). I often think of this and use it for motivation. It makes me glad I am still creating work. This project forces me to paint every day, and I hope the process makes me a better artist. I think it helps me let go, to a degree. If something isn't good I just have to l move on. I can't lament failure (or be crippled by it). Tomorrow will be a new painting. A new victory. A new opportunity.
Today's painting marks number 70 of these opportunities. This is Duckie from the teenage angst classic Pretty in Pink. It was fun to step back into a time filled to funky outfits and pre-mullet hair. (I admit, I think James Spader's hair is pretty fabulous in this movie!)
