No. 248 / Dull Pencils

This is a favorite quote of artist, David Kassan. He is an amazing portrait painter and I have two of his instructional DVDs. Wow. As part of an assignment for a Skillshare class we were asked to illustrate a quote. I have a lot to learn in the hand lettering category and this wasn't my favorite thumbnail, but I just had to explore the pencil shaving idea. For the colored version I used a transfer method using chartpak markers, a toner print out and colored pencil. This giving it a "dull pencil" feel. You will probably see this quote again, illustrated differently. Never be afraid to fail! It's the best way to learn. :)
