No. 197

No. 197 / Spring Cleaning Monster
Original Colored Pencil — Paper size 9 x 12 in.

I love the idea of promise, opportunity, and achieving things you're not so sure you can do. I think it's why I loved college so much. The feeling of impending accomplishment can be addictive.

Sometimes, however, the newness can wear off and the monotonous work is left behind. This project, for example, has been that way. It's real work and sometimes it can be tough. (I should keep a diary, really.) Mostly, it has been awesome and has allowed me lots of growth. And I frequently hear from you, which always brightens my day.

Since moving to Great Falls I have been in search of like-minded folks to connect with. Yesterday I finally was able to connect with some fellow artists! I attended a meeting with the Arts Association of Montana called, "Artists Helping Artists." What a lovely bunch of people. I can't tell you how excited I was!! It was an inspiring meeting and so nice to get that connection outside of my studio. They were all so nice and welcoming. I look forward to some volunteer opportunities, artist outings, and some upcoming art shows. Stay tuned!

On a roll, I grabbed my sketchbook and headed to Bowser Brewing to work on today's drawing. One of the beers on tap was called Spring Cleaning Monster. I decided to try my hand at a little monster action. I think he could be a bit more fierce, but it's a start. :)

Have a wonderful day!
