I put an inquiry on Facebook for local bakeries that might have some interesting subject matter. Janjou Patisserie was one of the few suggestions I received. I decided a visit was in order. I was not disappointed. It’s an unassuming little shop next to Shu’s Running Co.—small but known by devoted regulars. As I walked up I noticed a very striking woman sitting at the bar along the window. She was wearing white chef’s attire and talking on her cell phone. In my imagination she was the exotic chef blessing Boise with her scrumptious delights. I was right!

The shop is crisp, quiet, and very white. Small tables and chair sets are neatly placed along the wall and the center of the room. Two bars with stools line the front windows. I purchased two tarts and a latte, setting up shop in the corner at the window bar. I took some photos of my desserts while drinking coffee and then raced home to begin the painting process. The tart I am sharing today was just gorgeous with the fresh raspberries. I didn’t eat it until late in the evening, but my goodness it was heavenly!! No joke.
