Stonehenge

One of the many cool places I got to visit on my tour of the UK was Stonehenge. Estimated construction is said to have been 3100 BC. It is definitely a mysterious place.  And, it’s interesting to ponder its purpose (human sacrifice, calendar, astronomy). If given the chance, I recommend you visit. If you can’t do that . . . you can color my doodle page!

Hamsa

It's been a while since I've done a coloring doodle page. I thought I would do a quick one this weekend. The hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa. It is used as a sign of protection, can be used as a sign of good luck, and is used in defense against the "evil eye."

Giraffe

On Mother's Day we went to the Portland Zoo. They had three (that I could see) giraffes there. I just love giraffes. What an interesting creature, right? I couldn't help but do a little coloring doodle of one.

Dexter

I just finished the series, Dexter. I have to say, as macabre as it was, it was a great series. (And it kept you guessing until the end.) I decided it might be fun to create a coloring page dedicated to the guy. Feel free to download it, if you dare. 😊

The Carousel Horse

Sometimes I have artist's block. You know the problem, it's a lot like writer's block . . . with pictures. I also procrastinate. In my "artist's block" I will work on other projects in order to gain courage, or clarity, for the job I really need to be working on. That is where my carousel horse comes in this week. It is my block buster.

I am procrastinating working on a house portrait (which I began painting this weekend) and on getting my mother's headstone. Both have been difficult to complete. Maybe, because in a weird way, they are tied together. Funny how the brain works. The good news? It will all get done!

This carousel horse will become a finished painting, but begged to bloom into a coloring page! Stay tuned for the actual painting in the next weeks. When we traveled to Seaside, Or., we got to hang out in the mall with the indoor carousel. There is something so magical about those colorful, musical wheels. Feel free to download and share with your kids and friends.

Seals

The latest installment of coloring page fun . . .

This image was inspired from our trip through Astoria, OR. We were standing, taking pictures of The Goonies House, and heard this commotion on the shore. There were a boatload (probably a few boatloads) of seals hanging out squawking.

They congregate for the fish that come in and squabble like a bunch of siblings, but they are pretty cute.

Swim Fishy

I have been playing around with more digital doodles—this time with underwater friends. I've spent the last few months focusing on fish illustrations and thought they would be a fun theme for my next coloring page. (The creative color combinations are endless, right?) Feel free to share with friends young and old who love to color!

Donuts, Digital Doodles, Skillshare, and Coloring Pages

Three weeks ago, on a trip to Portland, we attempted to get a doughnut at Voodoo Donut. Each time we walked by they had a long line out the door. Since then I have been craving a gourmet donut.

With donuts on the brain I did this digital doodle. I have been exploring Skillshare classes and have taken the Doodles to Design class with Jon Burgerman (well-known NYC artist). If you are interested in obtaining some new skills (for cheap) you should check out the website: www.skillshare.com. The best part is seeing other artists’ processes.

Lastly, I have wanted to create a series of coloring pages for kids (and adults) for a while, so here goes! This is my first page for your coloring pleasure! Happy Saturday!
